IVF Treatment in Cyprus: Everything You Need to Know
IVF treatment is one of the most effective methods modern medicine offers for couples dreaming of parenthood. At Clavis Fertility Center, we are here to turn your dreams into reality with our internationally standardized IVF treatments.

What is IVF?
IVF treatment is the process of combining a woman’s egg and a man’s sperm in a laboratory to create an embryo, which is then transferred into the uterus. It provides an effective solution for couples who are unable to conceive naturally. With personalized treatment plans and the latest technologies, IVF significantly increases success rates.
Who is IVF Treatment Suitable For?
IVF treatment is recommended for the following cases:
- Couples who cannot conceive naturally.
- Women with ovulation disorders.
- Cases where the fallopian tubes are blocked or damaged.
- Men with low sperm motility and quality issues.
- Patients diagnosed with endometriosis.
- Unexplained infertility cases.
- Situations requiring embryo screening to prevent genetic disorders.
IVF Treatment Process
IVF treatment consists of a series of carefully planned steps. Here are the key stages of the process:
- Initial Consultation: A review of your medical history and fertility status. Necessary tests are conducted, and a treatment plan is created.
- Ovarian Stimulation: Hormonal treatment is used to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
- Egg and Sperm Collection: Mature eggs are retrieved, and a sperm sample is collected from the partner for laboratory fertilization.
- Fertilization: Using the ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) method, fertilization is achieved, and embryos are developed.
- Embryo Transfer: Healthy embryos are transferred into the uterus, initiating the pregnancy process.
IVF Treatment Process in Cyprus
IVF treatment in Cyprus is carried out in a comfortable and professional manner. Here’s a detailed look at your treatment journey:
Day 0
It is recommended to arrive in Cyprus one day before the egg retrieval procedure. Our transportation team will arrange your travel logistics. Upon arrival at Ercan Airport, you will be greeted by a private transfer and taken to your hotel in Kyrenia or Nicosia. You should rest and relax before your procedure.
Note that traffic in Cyprus flows on the left side, and vehicles have their steering wheels on the right. Please be cautious when crossing the street.
To prevent delays or cancellations, you must fast (no food or liquids) at least 8 hours before your scheduled procedure. Typically, no food or drinks should be consumed after midnight.
Day 1
At the scheduled time, a private transfer will take you from the hotel to our clinic. We prioritize patient privacy and data security, ensuring a smooth and confidential process. After a consultation with your doctor, you will begin the preparation phase, including IV fluids, wearing surgical attire, and signing consent forms.
The Oocyte Pick-Up (OPU) procedure, performed under anesthesia, takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, a sperm sample is collected from the male partner, and fertilization is performed in the laboratory using ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection).
Our specialist nurses will provide you with medication instructions for the next stages, and if injections are needed, they can be administered at your hotel.
Day 2
In the laboratory, fertilization is monitored. The embryologists assess whether the eggs and sperm have successfully fertilized and update you on the development of your embryos. It is advised to keep your phone accessible throughout the day.
Day 3
Your embryos continue their development. During this time, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Cyprus and relax while our embryologists closely monitor your embryos.
Day 4
The quality and quantity of your embryos are evaluated. In some cases, embryo transfer may be performed on Day 3. If not, there is no need to visit the clinic on this day. Our team will keep you updated on the status of your embryos.
Day 5
Your embryos continue to develop, and you do not need to visit the clinic today. Our nurses will inform you of your transfer schedule and important precautions.
Day 6
Embryo Transfer Day: To increase success rates and reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies, transfers are typically performed on **Day 5**, known as blastocyst embryo transfer.
It is natural to feel excitement and nervousness on this day, but our team will guide you through every step. To facilitate an easier transfer, it is recommended to drink approximately 1 liter of water an hour before the procedure to ensure a full bladder.
After final preparations, information about your embryos is provided, and the transfer is performed. The procedure takes about 10 minutes, followed by a 30-minute rest period. Detailed post-transfer care instructions will be given.
Day 7
After completing a successful treatment process, it’s time for your departure. You will be privately transferred from your hotel to the airport for a comfortable return home.
Post-IVF Treatment Process
Approximately 10-14 days after embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is performed to determine the outcome. During this period, it is essential to follow your doctor’s recommendations and get adequate rest. Our team will continue to support you throughout this post-treatment phase.
